Training Info

Chase Barnes is a member in good standing with the
Professional Horsemans Association, AQHA, and NSBA.
His training technique follows strict professional standards
of non-abusive treatment of the horses. When a horse
goes to Chase Barnes Performance Horses, they are truly in good hands.
He can fit and train horses to do halter, showmanship, horsemanship,
western pleasure, western riding, hunter under saddle, equitation, and trail.

"Every horse that enters my program starts with an intensive training program where I go back to the basics. Many times, the problems that people have with their horses are because the horse missed some of the basic steps in its training. All training procedures must be done in order, the horse must be able to do one thing before moving on to another. Once I have completed this basic training, I begin to focus on the strong points of the horse. I believe that every horse has something that they can excel in. I find what the horse is best at and start to prepare them for that event. I realize that every horse will not make a great show horse, but every horse should be responsive to its rider, soft and supple, quiet and easy to work around, and happy to do its job. I have a very diverse training program that includes work inside and outside, trail riding, working around other horses, people, animals, traffic, and countless other distractions. I feel that the only way for a horse to be comfortable in any surroundings is to expose it to as much as possible. I will never push a horse so hard that it no longer likes its job. I like to keep their minds fresh and looking foreward to riding every day. Once a horse finishes my program they are broke to do anything, they are easy to ride, and they love to do it.
I also spend a large amount of time teaching the rider to show their horse
to the best of their ability. That way when we finally go to a horse show both
horse and rider are totally prepared for anything that they may have to do."
